December WFTR radio show!

Only one show in December, due to holidays and scheduling and stuff. Micah, Jon, Jackson and Debbie had a grand old time in spite of throwing out most of our show prep. We started out discussing energy and fracking, and Debbie told us about some developments her father has made in horizontal drilling technology. Then Jackson went on a rant about the United Nations treaty on rights of the disabled, and we all piled on. Good practice for the WACFL tournament this Saturday!

On the air, Monday November 12

Our first radio show for a month, thanks to scheduling problems and hurricanes. Election discussion, legalizing marijuana, and whether it's smarter to raise taxes or cut spending. Our guests were team captain Micah Peregrino, and Debbie Kim and Will Fosnaugh.

R-MA Debate Team Radio Forum, October edition

We had a lively radio show on Monday! Topics included the Presidential debates, the retiring Shuttle, and the recent cyber-bullying tragedy. We even had one of our graduates drop in for a visit.  Here is the link to the podcast:

We'll do it again at 6 pm on Monday, October 29, assuming WFTR-AM doesn't come to its senses and stop us.

The R-MA Speech and Debate Team will kick off its ninth season of talk shows on WFTR-AM, Monday the 17th at 6 pm. Join us for an hour of lively (to put it mildly) discussion on news and current events! If you  miss the broadcast or outside the range of the mighty WFTR signal, all our shows are recorded for podcast. Links to past shows are posted here as soon as they're available.

Space Radio!

For our penultimate WFTR Radio F orum of the year, we did something a little different. Jon Christoph and I spent the hour talking about the space program, with emphasis on the projects he and other high school students are doing to get hands-on experience in the field...and hang out with astronauts and other space cadets like ourselves.

In two weeks, our last show of the year will feature all of the team, reminiscences of the year, and plans for next year! Don't miss it, and make plans now to attend the Senior Parade on Saturday, June 2 to cheer for our graduating debaters!

WFTR Radio Show, Monday March 5

After a February hiatus, we're once again assaulting the airwaves with the R-MA Speech and Debate Team Radio Forum on WFTR! Valerie Pratt moderated a lively show last Monday with Jackson McGraw and Micah Peregrino, who are competing in Metro Finals this weekend. We also met a new team member, Lauren Allen, who just started at R-MA. Here's the link to the podcast:

Back on WFTR

After a long break due to holidays and schedule conflicts, the sanity of radio itself was threatened once again by the R-MA Speech and Debate Team's Radio Forum! Our guests were Jackson McGraw and Micah Peregrino (champions of the last WACFL regional meet), Will Fosnaugh and Alex Niemeier. We started out talking about the Stop Online Piracy Act, then segued smoothly (haha) into immigration law, which is this month's Public Forum resolution topic.
